Matt is a U.S. military veteran and served in the U.S. Army for over twenty years. He started his military career as a Private enlisted man, and eventually worked his way up to the rank of Sergeant First Class, or E-7. Matt went to Ranger school as an E-4, earned his Ranger Tab, and later attended the John F. Kennedy Special Warfare Center and School and earned his Green Beret. 

Matt has lived or worked on every continent except Antarctica and Australia in support of U.S. national objectives. Matt attended Officer Candidate School and Graduated as the Col. Aaron Nett Distinguished Leadership Graduate Awardee and became a U.S. Army commissioned officer. Toward the end of his career, Matt was assigned to a unit near Stuttgart, Germany where he served with distinction as the Signal Detachment Commander, and as Executive Officer of a Special Forces Company. Matt has multiple peacetime and combat deployments. 

After Matt left the service, he continued to work in his speciality area as a civilian contractor for the Department of Defense, before deciding to attend law school at Ave Maria School of Law in Naples, Florida. During law school, Matt served with distinction by earning placement on the 

Dean’s List and as a member of the Moot Court Board. Matt also published an article in the school’s moot court board journal, “The Gavel.”

Matt is fiercely committed to the support and defense of the United States Constitution and the Florida Constitution. Matt believes these documents are the contract between the people and the government, and the government is constrained to exercise only those powers enumerated in each of these documents. Matt believes that it is the individual’s right to liberty, property, and contract, that have enabled this country to be the most prosperous and free nation mankind has ever known. Matt applies this ethos to his practice of law. 

Matt’s legal focus areas are Real Property, Probate, and Trust Law, Probate Litigation, Civil Litigation, Administrative Law, and Constitutional Law. 

In his spare time, Matt enjoys spending time with his wife Mindy, who is the best person he knows. Matt also enjoys bass fishing on Lake Okeechobee, riding his Harley, and playing an occasional round of golf.
